This research study aims to establish the channels through which African owned firms can expand their operations across the continent, as a remedy for the low level of FDI flows in Africa. Despite the weak economic conditions in most African countries, we have seen expanding African MNCs flourish. Given the effort made by African countries to attract more FDI and the successes of these African MNCs within Africa, we conclude that promoting African-owned firm expansion across Africa will increase the level of FDI flows in Africa and thus attract further investments to the continent. Our study examines FDI flows in Africa, defines adequate business environments for African owned firms and shows the impact of FDI on major African countries’ economic indicators.
