Abstract

This study focuses on the analytical examination of Setswana morphemes within the morphological processes, employing a qualitative research design and methodology firmly rooted in morphological theory. The study aims to highlight the linguistic challenges in Setswana morphology, propose extended research to structural issues, and enhance the broader knowledge of African languages within linguistic pedagogy. Through the integration of the Synthesis and Analysis Approaches, this research not only underscores the intricacies of Setswana morphology but also emphasizes the fluidity and dynamism of morphological structures. The research systematically collects data from various sources, including books, academic studies, and journal articles, utilizing thematic analysis to extract relevant themes.The study is anchored in theoretical and methodological perspectives, particularly Morphological Theory. The primary objective of this research is to explore the mechanisms and processes involved in the morphological formation of Setswana words through the application of morphemes. Additionally, it critically observed morphological patterns, and evaluates the challenges encountered in morpheme usage concerning word structure. The findings of this study contribute significantly to a deeper understanding of the complexities and distinctions within Setswana morphology, particularly the role of morphemes as fundamental components of word construction. By offering a systematic analysis of morpheme usage and role, the research provides insights that are not only valuable for linguistic scholarship but also instrumental in the preservation and advancement of Setswana language education.
