The purpose of this research is to assess compliance of National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) with Batho Pele Principles within the context of service delivery. The aim is to determine the extent to which the organization has utilised the Batho Pele Principles as a means to accelerate service delivery. Given the wide scope of the Batho Pele principles, it has been necessary to select five principles that are deemed to be consistent with the goals of the study. These include: service standards, courtesy, redress, openness and transparency and consultation. “The Public Service Commission undertook a survey in October 1999 to February 2000, to evaluate the extent to which departments have implemented the proposals made in the White Paper on Transforming Public Service Delivery-Batho Pele” (Public Service Commission, 2000, p.2). The survey did not generate sufficient information on the performance status of the NPA concerning the Batho Pele Principles. Given this, there is therefore a compelling reason to investigate the extent to which the NPA has managed to implement the Batho Pele Principles as a service delivery mechanism. The study has sourced information from different components such as primary and secondary data and from an interview questionnaire. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with Corporate Managers from seven units. These findings have revealed that the NPA are discrepant in terms of complying with the Batho Pele White Paper, therefore it does not comply with the Batho Pele White paper. One of the recommendations proposed by the researcher is that management needs to provide leadership and commitment in driving and practicing the Batho Pele principles. Furthermore, it has been proposed as part of the foregoing recommendation that the inclusion of Batho Pele principles in the reporting framework needs to be implemented to allow business units to report on the progress made with regard to the implementation of the Batho Pele principlesen_US
