dc.description.abstract | Environmental issues have been gaining momentum in the past two decades, with a number of global summits and conferences initiated by the United Nations. Business has a responsibility in addressing these issues in order to ensure that environmental sustainability needs are met. The purpose of this research has been to investigate how companies operating in the industrial coatings sector of the chemical industry have responded to these global environmental issues. It is encouraging to note that the main findings of this research show that companies operating in this sector have responded to the global call for environmental sustainability and implemented various initiatives, such as; implementing environmental management systems, incorporating environmental management into the strategic planning of the organisation and implementing measures to reduce their impact on the environment at product and process level within the organisation | en_US |
