The theory required to model a system using a bond graph is presented and a computer aided bond graph modelling program is implemented. The program allows the bond graph to be entered and modified and automatically assigns the causality. Using the bond graph and the equations entered by the user, the program creates an ACSL input file and performs an ACSL simulatlon. The program is able to deal with systems containing algebraic loops and derivative causality. The LISP source code is included in the dIssertation. Numerous bond graph models of systems in different domains are presented and examples of how the program is used to model, simulate and obtain the linear state-space equations of a number of systems are shown, The bond graph is a powerful multidomain model representation, particularly when incorporated in a computer aided modetling program.en_ZA
