In this dissertation we explore restricted Schur polynomials as a means of changing basis from the elds from N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory to the states of type IIB string theory. This is of signi cant import to the AdS/CFT correspondence. We explore the correlators of the restricted Schurs as well as their N ! 1 and nite N counting. We also illuminate the relationship between restricted Schurs and the operators created by Brown, Heslop and Ramgoolam.en_US
