dc.description.abstractThe main aim of this exegesis was to construct a kaleidoscopic narrative structure within a 360º 3D animation. The first objective of this aim was to create a 360º 3D animation. A parallel objective to the first was to consider the use of space and navigation within the animation, and how a constructed narrative of an animation would affect these two aspects of a 360º environment. The secondary objective was that of immersion. As this research revolves around animation, a subsequent secondary aim was that of applying the twelve principles of animation to the 360º 3D animation. The successes in terms of the creative practice animation having a kaleidoscopic narrative was seen in the way that smaller parts make a whole, and that different parts can be viewed separately as their own animations. One did not have to view the full animation to understand certain parts, or even watch the animation in the “correct sequence” to understand what was happening. The failure in creating a kaleidoscopic narrative in the animation, however, came forth in the fact that there was no true agency and that there was no interactivity (physically). For the animation to have truly be kaleidoscopic, one would have to have the ability to move around the space more freelyen_ZA
