| dc.description.abstract | It is essential that project implementation and management be effective in order for an organisation to realise efficient delivery of projects. In the endeavor to fulfill this essence, the Department of Infrastructure Development, Gauteng Province has demonstrated lack of efficiency and effectiveness therefore adversely affecting the delivery of services in the Department. This research has been set out to explore the factors that lead to delays in project implementation and delivery and sought to find out possible solutions to alleviate these problems and improve on what might be lacking. As a result the findings and the analysis thereof revealed that there are challenges in the managerial structure and delegations, cash flow management and handling of variations, financial capability of suppliers, skills and capacity and lack of clarity in roles and responsibilities during project implementation from communities and the Department alike. In order to improve on timeous and efficient delivery of projects in the Department, it is pivotal that proper delegations for project implementation be instituted, tighter systems for due diligence be introduced and there be training for all stakeholders involved in project delivery. | en_ZA |
