Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of personorganisational fit and espoused-organisational fit with organisational commitment. The random sample comprised of employees belonging to six SBUs of a large Professional Service-based organisation in Mauritius. Participants were asked to rate the importance of values items categorised under personal, espoused and actual organisational values. Organisational commitment was measured using the Meyer & Allen’s three-component organisational commitment scale. The results indicated weak to moderate negative correlations between personorganisational fit and espoused-organisational fit with organisational commitment variables. Furthermore, results of the multiple regression analysis indicated that employees' perceptions of organisational values contributed weakly to moderately in their explanation of variances in affective, normative and continuance commitment
