Collaboration between District Health Management Team (DHMT) and District Technical Committee (DTC) in the Management of HIV Activities in Eastern Province in Kenya

| dc.description.abstract | HIV is a key problem in Kenya and a national response has been designed to address it. The key implementing agencies for HIV response include the National AIDS Control Council (NACC) and Ministries of Health (MOH). The district structures for these agencies are district technical committee (DTC) and district health management team (DHMT) respectively and the HIV policy framework envisages collaboration between these committees. The purpose of this study was to assess the perceptions of DTC and DHMT members on their collaboration and the factors that foster and those that hinder this collaboration. The study found that DHMT and DTC members are familiar with these committees and feel that they should collaborate. They collaborate in various areas including planning and review fora, implementation of HIV activities, information management, technical support to implementers and sharing resources. However gaps exist in the collaboration and these can be addressed by strengthening on these gaps. The factors affecting collaboration include policy leadership, sensitisation on roles of the committees, joint activities, funding, information sharing and team relations. | en_ZA |
