This study investigates the factors that contribute to poor community participation in development projects implemented at the Ha-Makuya area of the Limpopo province of South Africa. The NDA as a statutory body responsible for poverty eradication through funding Community Based Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations funded two projects in Ha-Makuya in 2001. The two projects failed to achieve their objectives largely because community members did not participate in them. The research also looks at how the NDA is contributing to poor community participation in the poverty eradication process. The study concludes by providing a number of recommendations that should be considered in order to ensure that of community members effectively participate in similar projects in the future.en_US
