Information concerning bone induction in primates is a
prerequisite for the exploration of potential
therapeutic applications for the regeneration of bone
in humans Twenty-four recipient adult Chacma baboons
(Papio ursinus) were used to study bone repair and
regeneration initiated and promoted by osteoinductive
and osteoconductive bo*'.e substitutes implanted in
heterotopic intramuscular sites and in orthotopic
calvarial sites.
