dc.description.sponsorship | Corporate companies operate in highly competitive, global and fast-paced environments, requiring continuous re-examination, with much adaptations and flexibility. It is prudent to consider the potential strategic capabilities which have performance implications for organisations, more specifically from a corporate entrepreneurship perspective. The primary purpose of the study was to investigate the extent to which interfunctional co-ordination moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation , market orientation and organisational opportunity exploitation and business performance. Secondly, the report examined the impact of entrepreneurial orientation, market orientation and organisational opportunity exploitation on the business performance. An empirical quantitative approach and positivistist paradigm was adopted for the study. A cross-sectional design was employed to collect 203 cases through self-administered surveys. Employees of various companies within Gauteng, mainly Johannnesburg, were purposively targeted to take part in the study. The hypothesis testing was conducted through multiple linear regression and moderation analysis. The results indicate that both entrepreneurial orientation , market orientation and opportunity exploitation are important contributors to business performance from a financial and non-financial perspective. Furthermore, interfuctional co-ordination moderates the relationship between market orientation and business performance (financial and non financial).. Lastly, interfuctional co-ordination moderates the relationship between opportunity exploitation and business non-financial performance. The practical implications for corporate entrepreneurs lies in the consideration of integrating interfuctional co-ordination when opportunity exploitation strategies are being implemented in order to achieve non-financial performance. Furthermore, market orientation strategies are better implemented effectively through interfuctional co-ordination, and yield both financial and non-financial performance outcomes | en_ZA |
