Abstract
A number of lexicographic challenges has been identified and lemmatization of metaphors, particularly multiword expressions, in general purpose dictionaries remains a key problem in the development of Bantu lexicography MWEs are usually catered for in GPDs in different ways: sometimes they are sub-lemmatized and other times they are excluded. One of the proposed solutions is to develop a language for special purposes dictionary, henceforth LSPD where they are given full lemmatic status and a detailed microstructure. Therefore, the aim of this research is to compile an LSPD of Northern Sotho MWEs. Following the alphabetization and thematization principles, in this special purpose dictionary the lemmas have full lemmatic status and are categorized according to the typology of each metaphor type while the macrostructure is divided into three sections to make it convenient for the user and manageable for the lexicographer. A NS LSPD of 335 entries has been developed
