Abstract
The search for the hypothetical W′boson that decays to the top-quarks and bottom-quarks is conducted using the full run 2 data, which was collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This hypothetical W′boson is reconstructed through its decay products. Hence, this study seek to improve the reconstruction of the top-quark by devising a method that selects top-quark jet candidates from large-radius jets (large-R jet) in an event. Several methods are tested to quantify which one selects more large-R jets that are true top-quark jets in a signal sample. Through this study a method that successfully selected more true top-quark jets was de-vised. The current simulated signal samples are generated using a Geant4 based full simulation, which needs a significant amount of resources to produce. The results that are obtained using the simplified fast simulation are tested if they are similar to the full simulation results, this is done by comparing the modelling of the large-radius jet substructure variables. This study shows that the fast simulation poorly models some of the large-R jet substructures variables
