Abstract
Even Poodles Can Fly is a collection of humorous essays and stories based on
personal memories. These stories explore and interpret the events of life, from early
childhood to coming-of-age episodes, romantic interests, the bewilderment of
adolescence, and maturity in early adulthood and finding one’s place in the world.
The stories, some of which have been given the shape of fiction, are driven by
creative and existential urgency; they are a coming to terms with life, personal
anxieties and emotions through writing and humour. The stories are at turns
meditative, self-reflective, self-deprecating, confessional, satirical, and amusing. The
reflective essay included in the collection is a humorous reflection on the emotional
and life journey of the writing process, and it is also an exploration of how and why
humour works in memoir and storytelling
