dc.description.abstractThis dissertation describes the design and operation of a vehicle management information system. The system is based on a microcomputer and is aimed at the small to medium sized fleet operator. It is designed specifically for cleansing vehicles and accounts for the various factors which characterise these vehicles. The program itself is made up of eight modules, each performing a specific function. The operation of each is demonstrated in a worked example. Included are the output reports which contain information on workshop activities, costs incurred, vehicle and fleet performance measures and a replacement decisionen_ZA
