Background: Patients with inherited bleeding disorders have an elevated risk of bleeding, in which even relatively minimal invasive procedures can cause continuous bleeding. Aim and study design: The aim of this study was to review dental procedures performed over a 16 year period in patients with inherited bleeding disorders (IBD) at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH), and to compare the treatment approach to published international guidelines. Method: The study population comprised of patients’ files obtained from the Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre (HCCC) and Wits Oral Health Centre (WOHC) database. Results: Dental extraction was the most commonly performed procedure. Post-extraction bleeding was observed in 3 subjects, and the protocol observed for the management of these correlated with those published. Conclusion: A standard protocol for the dental management of IBD patients needs to be put in place in WOHC to ensure uniformity of clinicians, and compliance with the published protocolsen_ZA
