Abstract
"We assume that political systems are rationally devised and rationally
employed, which is to say that they are appropriate instruments for the
fulfilment of desires of members of the society" (Stigler, 1988b: 210).
"[T]he name ‘Auschwitz’ invalidates the presuppositions ... that all that is
real is rational, and all that is rational is real" (Lyotard, 1987:162).
