Active vibration control of a structure using digital control.
    (1996) Grobbelaar, Brett James
This dissertation covers the work done on structural vibration control research from. a mechanical engineering background. A cantilevered beam is used as a test structure and an analytical model describing the beam is developed. Mod... parameter estimatlon techniques are used to extract the modal parameters used in the analytical model. Two structural vibration control techniques are evaluated by comparing both theoretical and experimental results. Digital control methods are used to implement these control techniques, with the TMS320C30 digital signal processing card used as the digital controller The use of a tligital signal processing based system proved to be successful, however, the number of channels available were limiting. The direct velocity feedback technique is found to be a useful control tool, whilst the results pertaining to the Modified Independent Modal Space Control method are not conclusive,
