Abstract
Most cf the theory for domain decomposition methods of Schwarz type has been set in the
framework of the h and p~version finite element method. In this study, Schwarz methods are
formulated for both the conforming and nonconforming spectral element discretizations applied
to linear scalar self adjoint second order elliptic problems in two dimensions.
