Abstract
This research project aims to establish an historical overview of all the Shakespeare translations into Afrikaans, by analysing all these texts in terms of preliminary data and the macro-level based on the Descripive Translation Studies model of Lambert and Van Gorp. Conclusions are made about the nature of these translations as a corpus of texts. Subsequently a micto- level analysis of the imgery in "The Tempest" and its translation "Die Storm" is made. All of the above is discussed with reference to target audience accessibility.
