Abstract
This research project aims to establish an historical overview of all the
Shakespeare translations into Afrikaans, by analysing all these texts in terms
of preliminary data and the macro-level based on the Descripive Translation
Studies model of Lambert and Van Gorp. Conclusions are made about the nature
of these translations as a corpus of texts. Subsequently a micto- level
analysis of the imgery in "The Tempest" and its translation "Die Storm" is
made. All of the above is discussed with reference to target audience
accessibility.
