At Mafikeng Provincial hospital 130 hypertensive patients were assessed using both scoring algorithms. Ninety (69%) of the 130 patients were high risk. The WHO risk score was able to classify 84 (93%) of the high risk patients by SA risk calculator also as high risk and 36 (90%) of the 40 low risk patients also as low risk.
