In the U.S. there is still a division between those who thought the war justified and those who were against it. War memorials in both countries reflect these facts. Many veterans of the war were greatly damaged by it physically and mentally. Many go to Vietnam to help with its rebuilding. The government of the United States has not dealt adequately with it.
