The Activity Participation Outcomes Measure (APOM) was developed In South Africa to track change in mental health care users. The aim of this study was to examine the APOM’s responsiveness to change with an adolescent population of MHCUs as well as the convergent validity between the APOM and the Emotional Profile Index (EPI). The research design was a single subject ABA design. The study was done at the adolescent unit at Tara hospital. Weekly APOM recordings were done on 24 adolescents with a follow-up within six weeks after discharge. The EPI was done at admission, discharge and follow up. Data were analysed with descriptive and correlation statistics. The results of the study showed good responsiveness of the APOM to changes in this adolescent sample. Convergent validity was only found on certain dimensions of the EPI.enResponsiveness to change and convergent validity of the activity participation outcome measure (APOM) in adolescent mental health care usersThesis
