Abstract
A review of the literature indicates that very few studies have
been conducted into the educative and cognitive effects of television
viewing on young children in America and Europe and even less has been
res. rched in this respect in South Africa where television is still
a relatively new medium. There is thus a need to stimulate Such
research in this country.
